The series “Tales of Svalbard” tells the story of a magical and mysterious wilderness, a fague human presence, the boundary between origin and decay and a deafening silence.
I try to add some sort of magical layer to my stories, almost like a fairytale.
Day and night became abstract as the sun doesn’t rise at this strange place on our planet.
Walking for hours in the pitch black Arctic, constantly switching between my snow boots and spikes, on the lookout for polar bears with my head torch. There weren’t many light sources other than the stars and the aurora borealis, so I got to experience this world with my camera, with longer exposures. I was surprised at the the amount of colour I found in this white landscape without the sun.

All photos are printed on Hahnemuhle FineArt Baryta size 50x28cm) in a series of 20.
